Facts About Oakland’s Infrastructure – Buildings & Facilities
- There are 309 City-owned buildings and facilities.
- They total over 3,000,000 square feet of space.
- They include the City Hall, City offices, 25 recreation centers, the Main Library and 16 neighborhood branch libraries, 25 fire stations, 5 senior centers, 5 municipal swimming pools and 33 field house restrooms.

Facility Services
Facilities Services provides direct tenant services to a wide variety of client agencies, including custodial services, building engineering, security and access controls, air quality monitoring, emergency response and property management.
Parks, Trees & City Landscapes
Parks, Trees and City Landcapes is responsible for parks, medians, waterfront trails, open space properties and routine building maintenance of park buildings, fire stations, Head Start centers and senior centers and a wide variety of other building structures including parking lots. Park maintenance includes litter pickup and removal, pruning, weeding, turf mowing, irrigation system repairs and planting.

Capital Improvement Projects
Capital Improvement Projects are designed to upgrade and improve the City’s infrastructure including building facilities, parks/open space, streets, sidewalks and sewers.
Measure DD
Measure DD is a $198.25 million bond measure for better parks and cleaner water. Funded projects include parks, trails, bridges, a recreation center, historic building renovations, land acquisition and creek restoration.
Measure B
Measure B provides a one-half-cent sales tax to improve transportation in Alameda County.
