Surveillance Camera Registry
The Oakland Police Department (OPD) wants your help in fighting crime. Many Oaklanders have chosen install camera systems to protect their homes and their neighborhoods. Video footage helps OPD solve crimes. The Camera Registry Program (CRP) allows residents and business owners to register the locations of their video surveillance systems with OPD – if you have a camera system, we hope you will register the location so that we can contact you in the event of a nearby crime. OPD will be able to directly contact CRP registrants and ask them to check their video surveillance system. Recordings at the time of an incident may show activity involved with a crime, such as a getaway car or the direction that a person of interest was headed.
