Surveillance Camera Registry
Working Together to Make Oakland Safer
Many Oaklanders have chosen to install camera systems to protect their homes, neighborhoods, and businesses.
If your home or business has a security camera system, video footage can help OPD investigate and solve crimes.
By signing on to the Surveillance Camera Registry, you can assist OPD prevent crime in your neighborhood.
What Is the Camera Registry Program?
The Camera Registry Program (CRP) is a map-based database and a website. The CRP allows residents and business owners to register the locations of their video surveillance systems with OPD. OPD will then be able to see where cameras are located.
If you register your camera, OPD will contact you if video footage is sought in connection to a criminal investigation – OPD will always ask permission to review the video on your surveillance system. Your camera may have captured information that can help solve the crime!
Recordings at the time of an incident may provide useful information related to the crime, such as a getaway car or the direction that a person of interest was headed.
Register Your Surveillance Camera
The City of Oakland Camera Registry was created for Oaklanders who want to help make our city safer by sharing video footage with the Oakland Police Department.
