Our Upcoming Events
Since 1969, ASSETS Senior Employment Opportunities Program has helped to train and prepare mature adults for entry or re-entry into the competitive labor market. Eligible participants can receive paid work experience as a Senior Aide at training sites in non-profit or government agencies. These training sites are carefully selected by ASSETS to provide supervision and instruction to increase skills so that these Senior Aides are better enabled to remain in the workforce. Eligible participants can also receive individual career counseling, classroom training in job retention skills, and the services of local One-Stop career resource centers.
ASSETS provides the following services:
- Classroom training in early childhood education, computer literacy, customer service, general office procedures, keyboarding, and interpersonal communication
- Personalized guidance in your job search
- One-Stop Career Resource Center
- Paid Work Experience
- Be 55 or older
- Llive in Alameda County
- Meet income guidelines.
Finding a Job
ASSETS Senior Employment Opportunities Program is administered by the City of Oakland, Human Services Department, and offers FREE job placement and training services to Alameda County residents who are 55 or older. You can earn minimum wage while getting the training needed to make the transition to full or part-time jobs outside of the program.

ASSETS consists of two programs, Senior Community Services Emloyment Program (SCSEP) and the Workkforce Investment Act Services (WIA). How to Apply for the ASSETS Programs
Host Agency Information
Is your organization interested in becoming a Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) Host Agency? Nonprofit and government agencies are eligible to become a host agency for the SCSEP. Host agencies provide community service assignments for SCSEP participants with the goal of increasing their skills and preparing them to enter or reenter the workforce. ASSETS will pay their wages for up to a four year period while they work in these assignments. It is expected that the host agencies will make all possible efforts to hire these participants upon completiion of their assignments.
