On May 3rd at 4:30 P.M., an Oakland Patrol Officer responded to a report of trespassers inside of an unoccupied home.
Officers on scene recovered two van loads of items believed to be taken from homes in Oakland, Piedmont, Orinda, Berkeley, and Kensington. Recovered items include personal documents, televisions, computers, tools, and jewelry.
Although OPD has been able to return some of the items to victims, many more are still being held. The police have no leads for these items. more »

Installation of Oakland’s latest public art 10,000 Steps: Walking the Invisible City has begun and will continue into July 2011. The installation includes 36 permanent conversational sidewalk markers that encourage residents and visitors to explore downtown Oakland and its five original parks. While preserving the past, the public art project also encourages long-time residents of and new arrivals to the culturally diverse downtown to interact. more »

Oakland, CA – On June 21, 2011, at approximately 5:45 P.M, Oakland Police Officers were dispatched to a possible shooting in the 8200 block of A Street. Oakland Police Officers responded to the area and found an African American male in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. more »
