On January 26, 2011, at approximately 9:01 P.M., Oakland Police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of 78th Ave. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle was backing into a driveway and collided with the child.

Measure BB, passed in November 2010, provided funding to enable the City and the Police Department to reestablish our problem-solving officer (PSO) positions. During the week of January 8, 76 officers were reassigned to this valuable program.

The Oakland Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday,
January 28th, 2011, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and
injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them
off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
