Oakland, CA —In an ongoing effort to increase public engagement, information sharing and transparency, the City of Oakland and the Oakland Police Department have launched the Oakland Police Department (OPD) Calls for Service Application. This new web application was created by the City’s Information Technology Department and uses Esri technology to provide a 24-hour recap of police activity in the City. Oakland, CA — On Monday, May 4, 2015 Oakland Police Department homicide investigators arrested Vicente Prado-Rodriguez, 19, and Cinthia Gabriel-Martinez, 19, for the murder of 38-year-old Basilio Ramirez. The victim and both suspects lived in Oakland. At this time, we are not releasing photos of Prado-Rodriguez and Gabriel-Martinez. Investigators are still identifying additional witnesses. more »

Oakland, CA —Oakland Police Department homicide investigators worked with the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office in charging Carlton Broussard, 29, with two counts of murder for the double homicide of Marcus Sims, 29, and Donald Ray Ward Jr., 22. Broussard is one of several suspected gunmen in the shooting of Sims and Ward. Investigators continue to identify other persons of interest in the case. more »
In April of 2015, Governor Brown declared severe drought conditions and imposed water restrictions to achieve a 25% reduction in water use. East Bay Municipal District (EBMUD) – Oakland’s water supplier – declared a Stage 4 Drought requiring certain measures to comply with the water restrictions. The City of Oakland is taking immediate actions to reduce water consumption to comply with the mandatory 25% water use reduction on City maintained landscaped areas. more »
Oakland, CA —Today, Tuesday, May 5, 2015, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged Donald D. Higgins for the murder of 14-year-old Davon Ellis. Higgins is also charged with two counts of attempted murder for shooting at two friends who were with Ellis. more »
