Beginning on Monday, May 7, 2012, the Oakland Police Department and the
United States Marshals Service, together with several federal and state law
enforcement partners, conducted a three-day warrant service operation. The goal of
the operation was to clear as many outstanding and high-priority warrants being
held by the Oakland Police Department.

multi-agency warrant sweep that included collaboration through the High Intensity
Drug Trafficking Areas program (HIDTA), the United States Marshals Service
(USMS), and numerous local, state, and federal agencies.

Oakland, CA – On May 9th, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Oakland Police
Department officers conducted a vehicle traffic stop in the area of Ney Street near
Ritchie Street. As officers prepared to conduct a felony probation search on the
vehicle’s front passenger, the rear passenger of the vehicle ran from the car.
Officers pursued him into the 7900 block of MacArthur Boulevard.
On Thursday, May 10, 2012, Oakland Mayor Jean Quan will bicycle an invigorating and heart-healthy 6½ miles from the Eastmont Police Station to City Hall in the company of East Bay Bicycle Coalition Executive Director Renee Rivera and others. The Mayor is one of hundreds of bicyclists who will make the trek downtown for Oakland’s 19th annual Bike to Work Day. These bicyclists will be joined by other elected officials all taking part in the now-traditional, two-hour mini-festival of pancakes, prizes, bike safety checks and all-day valet bike parking.
Oakland, CA – The Oakland Police Department has identified Mr. Alan Dwayne
Blueford (DOB 12/93) as the person shot by police on the morning of May 6th,
2012. Blueford succumbed to fatal wounds after being transported from the scene
for medical attention.
At the Northern California MegaRegion Summit today, Oakland Mayor Jean Quan announced Bank of America as the first area business to provide a $50,000 grant to the Mayor’s Summer Jobs Program through the Workforce Development Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation. The Workforce Development Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation pools donations from different sources for the purpose of advancing strategies, programs and services that increase workforce development opportunities for East Bay residents.
