Oakland, CA — On January 1, 2014 at 8:30 PM, it was reported that a 19-year-old
female was walking in the 200 block of 17th Street when she was approached by a
stranger, who had appeared from between two parked cars.
The suspect grabbed the victim by wrapping both of his arms around her,
threatened that he had a gun, and began dragging her down the sidewalk.
On Sunday, January 19th, Oakland Mayor Jean Quan will present the City of Oakland Citizen Humanitarian Award to Carol Johnson for her outstanding work on behalf of the Oakland community at “In the Name of Love,” the 12th Annual Musical Tribute honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., an extensive civic and cultural event that pays homage through music, to one of the greatest humanitarians of our time.
