Oakland, CA — On October 4, 2012, during a press conference, Oakland Police Chief Jordan along with City Officials and leaders of the community discussed the recent increase in homicides. Chief Jordan stated “the level of violence in the city cannot and will not be tolerated.” Chief Jordan vowed he would continue to strengthen key areas by providing city-wide crime reduction and crime response strategies. The Chief stated his strategies would focus on prevention, outreach, and education for crime prevention. Chief Jordan said, “when prevention is ineffective, and crime occurs, we must have investigations and partnerships with local, state, and federal partners to bring offenders to justice and trial and to prevent and react to crime as it occurs.” more »
