SAN FRANCISCO – The results of a long term pro-active enforcement operation, designed to address violent crime in the Oakland, Calif., area, were announced today by United States Attorney Melinda Haag; Acting Special Agent in Charge Scot C. Thomasson of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Project Gideon III; and Chief Howard Jordan of the Oakland Police Department, during a press conference in Oakland.
Oakland, CA –On May 24, 2012 at 9:31 PM gun shots were reported in the 5800
block of International Boulevard. Two Alameda County Sheriff Deputies, who
were patrolling the area, also reported they heard the gun shots.
Oakland, CA — The 100% Strong Peace Event, Saturday June 2, 2012, is the
first in a series of community events to promote a safe city for children and
families in Oakland. Our aim is to support Oakland families and neighborhoods
by creating events that empower citizens to work with others to end the violence.

addressing recent arrests, gun recoveries and improved Shot Spotter technology being used
by the Oakland Police Department.

This afternoon, Mayor Jean Quan and City Administrator Deanna J. Santana released a proposed Mid-cycle Policy Budget for fiscal years 2012-13, to maintain a balanced budget for the second year of the two-year budget cycle. For the first time in 4 years, there are no service or staff cuts proposed.
