On September 13th, at 9:32 a.m., Oakland police officers responded to the 3300 block of
Lakeshore Avenue on a report of gun shots in the area. Upon arrival, officers contacted
an individual who advised that he accidently fired his firearm. The officers conducted a
protective sweep of the apartment complex and discovered multiple marijuana plants and
On September 3, 2009, the Oakland Police Department Crime Stoppers Program
received contributions to increase the reward fund for the Hasanni Campbell case. At the beginning of
the investigation the reward was $10,000 and now we are able to offer $60,000.
The Oakland City Auditor released the results of a performance audit of the City of Oakland’s grant management for the Measure Y Violence Prevention Program. As explicitly stated in the audit, it is not an assessment of the effectiveness of the Measure Y Violence Prevention programs, nor an assessment of the effectiveness of individual Measure Y grantees.
On August 29, 2009 the City of Oakland will add an additional intersection to the Red Light Camera Enforcement System (RLCES) in an effort to reduce red-light related accidents. The fourth intersection to be equipped with the red-light camera system is High St. and Foothill Bl. The system will capture red-light violations and warning notices will be mailed to violators for 30 days.
On August 27, 2009, at about 1:31 p.m., Officers Burns and Cardona conducted a traffic
stop in the 7900 block of Hillmont Drive. The driver was found to be driving without a valid driver’s
license and one of his passengers was on probation for possession of stolen property.
