The city of Oakland today hosted officials from the White House, the United States Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the United States Transportation Department to highlight community benefits from the stimulus funds, including access to contracting opportunities. The federal officials joined local and national community leaders in Oakland City Hall to participate in a press conference and overview presentation regarding Oakland’s efforts on the stimulus program.
The Oakland Police Department is releasing the framework for its strategic plan. The
framework presents a new mission, vision and strategic goals for the Oakland Police Department and the
Community of Oakland.
Arthur Jenkins 29-year-old Oakland resident was arrested for felon in possession of firearms and
possession of marijuana for sales. During the course of the investigation, officers discovered that one of
the firearms was an illegal assault weapon.
Mayor Ron Dellums announced today that the City of Oakland was part of five successful State Energy Program stimulus grant applications totaling over $40 million, awarded by the California Energy Commission (CEC). These funds will create and/or retain more than 4,000 jobs statewide.
During an annual business luncheon presented by the six Chambers of Commerce of Oakland and the Clorox Company, Mayor Ron Dellums unveiled the City of Oakland’s “Putting Oaklanders to Work” strategies, which will help generate more than 5,000 jobs over the next three years. Mayor Dellums then issued a call to action to the business community to take full advantage of available resources to hire Oakland residents.
