Located in the beautiful Oakland hills, Redwood Heights Recreation Center is a great weekend rental location. The center offers a wide variety of programming serving toddlers, youth, teens, adults, and seniors. The most popular activities include Ballet, Karate, Summer Escape Day Camp, Jr. High Club, and Rockets After School Program; all highly rated by participants and community members alike.
Join us for one of our adult evening classes of Karate, Aro-bo-cise, & Yoga or try our Monday and Wednesday morning Yoga class.
ROCKETS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Looking for a place to go after school? Blast off to the Rockets After School program. Receive homework help, play sports and games, and create arts and crafts in safe, supervised environment.
SUMMER DAY CAMPS 2013

2013 camp information.
The Summer Escape Day Camp is for children entering 1st thru 6th grade in the fall 2013. Weekly activities may include excursions, sports, arts & crafts, indoor/outdoor games, dance, drama and other special activities.
Summer Escape is committed to safety first and creating a positive environment where children can spend their time in quality programs that are safe, educational and FUN!
For children going into 4th – 6th grades, we are tentatively scheduled to go swimming at either Lions Pool or the East Oakland Sports Center on Tuesdays. There is no scheduled swimming for the younger children due to height requirements & staff / child ratio in the pool. The City of Oakland Aquatics Department offers weekly swimming lessons for great prices. Please contact them regarding swim lessons.
The Jr. High Club is designed for middle school children entering 7th & 8th grades in the fall 2013. Weekly activities include excursions, sports, arts & crafts, indoor/outdoor games, drama, dance; peddle boating & kayaking on Lake Merritt, golfing and other special activities which may include a movie trip during the summer.
Art & Discovery Camp in the beautiful outdoor environment of McCrea Park, Children have a great opportunity to develop their skills and creative learning from our great artists and performers at each child’s on pace. Dance, Music, drumming and martial arts are balanced with visual art classes including painting, sculpture, paper mache and fabric design. The busy week concludes with a potluck which follows the children’s performance and art show.
**Camp is held at McCrea Park 9:30 am – 2:30 pm. Morning care (8-9:30 am) and afternoon care (2:30-6 pm) are held at the Redwood Heights Recreation Center.
Summer Day Camp Payment information
Cost is $165 per week ($180 for Art & Discovery Camp with extended care), per child and DOES NOT INCLUDE EXCURSION FEES (admission & transportation). At the time of registration, you will be required to pay a $25 deposit per child, per week. No exceptions. This $25 deposit will be applied to the fees due for that week. The balance for each week will then be $140 + any excursion fees for that week, and are due on Monday for each week of camp.
Excursion Payment Information – Please note that excursion fees are NOT included in the price of the camp and the excursion fees will vary from week to week. Excursion payments are due each Monday in cash to the Redwood Heights Recreation Center office. If we do not receive the excursion payments by Monday, your child will be unable to attend the excursion for that week.
CANCELLATION POLICY - You will lose $25 per week, per cild from your deposit if any cancellations are made.

MOVIES IN THE PARK 2013
Our next movie is Friday May 17, 2013 and we will be showing "Grease" PG 110 minutes.
Sunset is at 8:14 pm that evening and the movie will begin around that time.
Please check this site or feel free to call the center, 482-7827 to confirm if the movie is going to happen or not, if the weather looks like rain or high winds. We will keep this website up to date as best we can.
Save the dates: It is Movie in the Park time at the Redwood Heights Recreation Center.
Thank you to everyone who attended last year's activities and movies. A big Thank you to the Redwood Heights Neighborhood Association, for their support again this year.
All movies begin at dusk. Please note that this time changes, as the days get longer and shorter in the spring, summer & fall. We plan on starting the movies once it gets dark enough to see it on the screen.
Be sure to dress warm and bring a lawn chair and / or blanket as the grass starts to get a little damp in the evening. We will have some mosquito spray, but you may want to bring some as well.
We will again be selling popcorn, hot chocolate, drinks & hotdogs this year. All of the money goes towards our scholarship fund for summer day camp and after school Rockets program.
Please do not bring alcohol, drugs or dogs. None are allowed in the park. Thank you in advance!

- Therapy Ball & Resistance Band (Aerobocise) Teen, adults and seniors - Mondays & Wednesdays 6:10 - 7:10 pm. $15 per class drop in fee or buy a 5 class card for $50.
- Summer Pre-Ballet - We need a minimum of 10 (max of 12)enrollments by June 1, 2013 or class will be cancelled.
- Summer Ballet 1 - We need a minimum of 10 (max 12) enrollments by June 1, 2013 or class will be cancelled.

- Ballet Stretch (adults and seniors) - Wednesdays 11:15 am - 12:15 pm. $15 per class drop in fee or buy a 5 class card for $35.
- Ballroom Dance (adults and seniors) - Wednesdays 1:00 - 2:00 pm. $15 per class drop in fee or buy a 5 class card for $50.
- Bridge (adults and seniors)
- Fitness Bootcamp - Total body workout to increase your energy and fitness level for a healthier and more enjoyable lifestyle. Saturdays 10 - 11 am. $15 drop in fee or by a 5 class card for $50.

Little Tots & Big Tots program at Redwood Heights Recreation Center

The Redwood Heights Recreation Center is excited to announce that we will be continuing our Little Tots & Big Tots program here at the Redwood Heights Recreation Center for the Spring Session.
Little Tots: Tuesday & Thursday
9:00 - 10:30 am
Ages 3-4 (must be potty trained)
$90 (April 2 - May 30, 2013) 9 weeks
Big Tots: Tuesday & Thursday
11:00 am - 1:30 pm
Ages 4.5-5
$105 (April 2 - May 30, 2013) 9 weeks
About the Teacher: Lea Felix has worked for the City of Oakland, at Dimond Recreation Center for 8 years as a preschool teacher. She holds a multiple subjects teaching credential for grades Pre-K to 12th. Before her sons were born, she worked for Alameda County as a Teacher for Developmentally delayed toddlers and later on as a special education teacher for a private school in Walnut Creek with grades K-12. Her message to prospective parents: "I really enjoy teaching preschool and I am looking forward to working with your child".

FACILITY RENTAL INFORMATION
The 1st Sunday of every month, we will have a rental viewing from 10 am - 12 noon. Please call a week in advance to be sure that the viewing will be held. During the rental viewing, you will be able to view the hall in a basic set up, ask staff quesions, take mearsurements, fill out a rental application.
