HOURS OF OPERATION
Founded in 1992, Oakland Fine Arts Summer School (OFASS), a successful collaboration between the Oakland Unified School District and Oakland Parks and Recreation, is open to students of all levels. Students will exercise their own artistic expression while learning art history and creating individual projects. Every year features a different theme. Each group enjoys a range of art experience, which can include visual, performance, theatrical and literary arts. Students registering for the afternoon camp must be attending K-5th grade as of March 2010. For registration information call (510) 597-5081. Payment plans are available. Registration begins now. OAKLAND MUNICIPAL BAND
Since 1912 the Oakland Municipal Band has been performing free concerts in Lakeside Park at the historic Edoff Memorial Bandstand. Come and bring your lawn chair and picnic starting on July 4th and continuing on Sundays, in July. Concerts run from from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The band consists of 35 professional musicians and all concerts offer an array of jazz, pop, big band, international, classical, marches and showtunes.

NATIONAL RECREATION AND PARKS MONTH & PLAY DAY IN THE PLAZA
Play in the Plaza brings children and family from all over the Bay Area to Oakland City Hall grounds to help kick-off the National Recreation and Parks month of July. In celebration, Oakland Parks and Recreation hosts events throughout the City for the full month of July. Activities include: Rides, Face Painting, Double Dutch, Group Competitions, Drumming, Cultural Arts Presentations, Rock climbing, Basketball and Jumping Castles. A full listing of events for the month can be found in our annual brochure and on our homepage. Play Day In The Plaza is typically on the last Friday of June from 11am - 2pm. Groups welcome.
