Founded in 1992, Oakland Fine Arts Summer School (OFASS), a successful collaboration between the Oakland Unified School District and Oakland’s Office of Parks and Recreation, is open to students of all levels. Students will exercise their own artistic expression while learning art history and creating individual projects. Every year features a different theme. Each group enjoys a range of art experience, which can include visual, performance, theatrical and literary arts. Students registering for the afternoon camp must be attending K-5th grade as of March 2010. For registration information call (510) 597-5081. Payment plans are available. Registration begins now. PLAY DAY IN THE PLAZA
Play in the Plaza brings children and family from all over the Bay Area to Oakland City Hall grounds to help kick-off the National Recreation and Parks month of July. The City of Oakland Office of Parks and Recreation hosts events throughout the City. Activities include: Rides, Face Painting, Double Dutch, Group Competitions, Drumming, Cultural Arts Presentations, Rock climbing, Basketball and Jumping Castles.
