* Emergency Sewer Cleaning Memo Clarification- Lake Merritt is not currently experiencing spills, but because of sanitary sewer constrictions due to heavy debris and grease there is an elevated risk of a spill so the City has taken proactive action by declaring a local public health emergency to speed up the work to clean out the sewer to actively prevent the possibility of spills.
