City Stables, a 7.2 acre site, is located on Skyline Boulevard in the Oakland hills. Oakland Stables represents a unique asset for the City of Oakland offering specialized activities for inner-city youth through programs on horseback riding, sustainable agriculture and related fields.
The hacienda was built in around 1925 and was used as the residence of the owners up until the 1970's. The property has been used as a horse staging area dating back to the Peralta family in the 1700's.

City Stables To Re-open in 2013
Pending approval from Oakland City Council, OPR will be working with a local equestrians to open the Stables. We are working towards opening and operating by Winter 2014. Stall rentals, riding lessons, outdoor programs, community gardening and special horse related programs will be offered to the citizens of Oakland, with a special emphasis placed on serving youth from low income families and under-served areas, seniors and people with special needs. We have completed an extensive process to find a concessionaire to operate the stables. The requirements focus on comprehensive skills in public programs, community building and property management, upkeep and improvements.
