Restoration & Acquisition Projects
The watershed and stormwater management program received $5.5 million for creek restoration projects and $4.5 million for watershed acquisition and preservation projects from Measure DD funds.
Restoration projects have been completed at Arroyo Viejo, Lion Creek, Cinderella Creek, Temescal Creek, Garber Park and Peralta Creek. Projects in the design or construction phase include Sausal Creek and Shepherd Creek.
Aquisitions have beem completed at Butters Canyon, Dimond Canyon and in the San Leandro Creek watershed above Dunsmuir House. Below are examples of the completed projects:
The Garber Park Project was completed January 2012 and provided erosion control along the banks of Harwood Creek. The project also provided transplants of plant cuttings from the park's native riparian species into the creek to ensure additional bank stabilization. The Garber Park Stewards collaborated on the project and will be conducting ongoing monitoring of the restoration site.
