General Plan and Planning Code
The Planning and Zoning Division, in coordination with the Planning Commission, maintains the General Plan and the Planning Code, and prepares area plans to create a sustainable and livable Oakland.
The current General Plan adopted in 1998 and in effect until the year 2015, defines the long range goals and intentions of the community regarding the nature and direction of future development within the City of Oakland.
