The General Plan reflects the long-range vision and policy framework to guide development for the next twenty years in the City of Oakland, and includes a General Plan Map.
General Plan Conformity Guidelines
The General Plan represents the long range land use and policy goals of the City while the Zoning represents specific land use and development standards for a property. In most cases, the General Plan and the Zoning designation for a property are compatible but there are some areas of the City that are still awaiting new Zoning. In some cases there are conflicts between the older Zoning and the General Plan, this set of guidelines explains how to rectify this.
