Oakland, CA – This afternoon a peaceful demonstration of approximately700 people marched from Frank Ogawa Plaza to Lakeview Elementary School. The City of Oakland and the Oakland Police Department maintained low visibility while facilitating the march and providing traffic control.
Oakland, CA - On February 8, 2011 a 56 year-old female was walking home after work near 8th and Jackson Streets when she was grabbed from behind, forced to the bottom of her basement, brutally beaten and sexually assaulted. The suspect fled the scene. There were no witnesses to the crime, and the victim could not identify the suspect. Evidence obtained from the victim’s sexual assault examination was entered into the local, state and national database for convicted offenders (CODIS), and a match to the suspect was made.
Oakland, CA – The Oakland Police Department was advised of a sexual assault that occurred on November 15, 2011 at approximately 2:00am, in the 2500 block of 13th Avenue. It was reported that a 21 year old female victim was walking home from work when she was approached by the suspect in what is believed to be an attempted robbery that resulted in a sexual assault.
Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department is requesting the assistance from
the media and the public in locating Ying Ying Li who speaks limited English. Li’s
family is concerned for her mental state.
Oakland, CA (10:00 am)– This morning at 4:30 am, the Oakland Police Department began
enforcement of the “Notice of Violations and Demand to Cease Violations” issued on
Friday, November 11, to persons staying overnight in Frank Ogawa Plaza. The operation
went smoothly and peacefully.

press conference to announce the successful completion of a joint operation.

Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department would like to make the public
aware of a report of a sexual assault. A 16 year old female reported that on
November 4, 2011 at 10:30 PM, she was walking in the 900 block of 59th Street
when she was approached by a stranger and physically forced into his vehicle.
