Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department requests the assistance from the media
and the community to locate a mother and her two month daughter who were kidnapped
by the child’s father at gun point Wednesday night.
Oakland, CA — Mayor Quan, Police Chief Jordan and Fire Chief Reed will gather
with over 190 Police Officers, Firefighters, and other City Employees in Frank
Ogawa Plaza tonight at 5:30 pm and then fan out throughout the City of Oakland to
visit some of the record setting number of 605 National Night Out block parties
taking place around the City.
Oakland, CA — The Oakland Police Department would like to make the public
aware of an attempt sexual assault. A 54- year old female reported that on July 26, 2012,
at 9:00 AM, she was walking her small dog in the 2200 block of 55th Avenue when she
was approached by a stranger who reportedly hit her on the head with an unknown object
and then physically forced her to the ground. While on the ground the suspect physically
assaulted and then attempted to sexually assault the victim. During the assault the victim
kicked and punched the suspect, and yelled for help. The suspect then ran from the scene.

Oakland, CA — Oakland Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a
DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Friday, August 10, 2012, at an undisclosed
location within the city limits between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. DUI
checkpoints are a proven enforcement tool effective in reducing the number of
persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes. Research shows that crashes
involving alcohol drop by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized
checkpoints are conducted often enough.
