Oakland (Ca) – CompStat is a multidimensional approach to crime reduction and resource management. OPD has been using CompStat for the last year and Oakland is currently experiencing a 14% reduction in violent crimes. This is an excellent opportunity to observe the analytical and detailed approach OPD personnel take when addressing crime.
The Oakland Police Department and Neighborhood Services Coordinators will be holding a Crime Prevention Workshop. Investigators will be on hand to provide advice for keeping your home, family, and identity safe.
On September 19th, two robberies occurred in which female victims were targeted as they came home.
During the course of the robberies, the women were sexually assaulted. The incidents occurred in the
Lake Merritt area and may be committed by the same suspect.

Anyone, Law Enforcement, Fire Personnel, friends, family, neighbors… anyone! Officer Young was shot multiple times while making our streets safer. His injuries
required multiple surgeries necessitating 60 units of blood. He is continuing to need
additional surgeries and needs your help.
OPD will immediately begin enforcing a verified response policy for alarm users experiencing excessive false alarms. The Department is taking this step to avoid exhausting valuable resources in responding to alarm calls that have a high probability of being false.
The Oakland Police Department will be conducting a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint on Friday,
August 20, 2010, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and
injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them
off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving.
