Oakland, CA – On August 12, 2014, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Joseph Bontempo, 53, of Oakland with the murder of his wife, Laurie Wolfe, 57, who died July 6, 2014. The Oakland Police Department arrested Bontempo on August 12, 2014 after the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Coroner’s Bureau determined that Wolfe’s injuries were caused by blunt-force trauma. more »

Oakland, CA – On August 3, 2014, at 3:57 AM, while in the area of 55th and Fairfax Avenues uniformed Oakland Police officers, driving a fully marked black and white patrol car attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle. The vehicle was wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery and pistol whipping that occurred on July 12, 2014, at 2:25 PM, in the 4700 block of MacArthur Boulevard. Officers will be on duty patrolling areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes have occurred in the past. more »
Oakland, CA – Thirteen individuals associated with known gang violence have been arrested and charged (photos attached below). This action was taken after a long-term investigation was completed in connection with Operation Ceasefire. Before warrants were served, the Oakland Police Department’s Ceasefire intelligence-gathering unit identified and reached out to members of two identified violent gangs, YNIC and FE, to offer opportunities to change and to underline the negative consequences of continued violent criminal behavior.
