Oakland, CA — On March 12, 2016, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) participated in a statewide Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation. OPD was one of over 80 law enforcement agencies participating in the operation. The Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation program is intended to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors. According to the American Medical Association, underage drinking can increase chances of risky sexual behavior and teen pregnancy, juvenile delinquency, compromised health, and can result in unintentional injury and death. more »

Oakland, CA – On February 11, 2016, the Oakland Police Department arrested Hector Gonzalez in San Leandro, CA. Gonzalez is one of two suspects responsible for the murder of Quentin Robinson, 29, of Hayward.
On February 14, the second suspect, Michael Gonzalez-Navarro, was medically cleared from a local hospital, where he had been recovering from injuries sustained at the scene of the murder, and placed under arrest for the murder of Robinson. more »
Oakland, CA – On February 10, at 8:32 AM, the Oakland Police Department received information from citizens regarding a vehicle being driven in a dangerous and erratic manner followed by a report that a similar vehicle had intentionally struck another vehicle in the area of E. 23rd Street and Coolidge Avenue. Oakland, CA – On January 28, 2016, just after 2:00 PM, in a continued effort to locate missing person Diana Hajisaari, the Oakland Police Department Air Support Unit and Marine unit conducted one of many aerial and waterway searches of the San Leandro Bay. During the aerial search, the helicopter located a body in the water near the Alameda side of the San Leandro Bay. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene. more »
