Oakland, CA — On November 5, 2012, Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan, Assistant Chief Anthony Toribio, OPD Command Staff and personnel held an appreciation dinner honoring the Department’s volunteers.
Oakland, CA—This year the Oakland Police Department placed third among SWAT
teams in the recently completed Urban Shield 2012 Training Exercise. We would
like to extend our congratulations to first place Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and
to second place Sacramento Police Department for a job well done.
Oakland, CA — On October 4, 2012, during a press conference, Oakland Police
Chief Jordan along with City Officials and leaders of the community discussed the
recent increase in homicides. Chief Jordan stated “the level of violence in the city
cannot and will not be tolerated.” Chief Jordan vowed he would continue to
strengthen key areas by providing city-wide crime reduction and crime response
strategies. The Chief stated his strategies would focus on prevention, outreach, and
education for crime prevention. Chief Jordan said, “when prevention is ineffective,
and crime occurs, we must have investigations and partnerships with local, state,
and federal partners to bring offenders to justice and trial and to prevent and react
to crime as it occurs.”
Oakland, CA —On Tuesday morning, October 24, 2012, the Oakland Police
Department’s SWAT Team along with partnering law enforcement agencies served
multiple homicide arrest warrants at various locations throughout the city.

discuss CHP officers assisting the police department, as early as next week.

step to address the serious violence that has long plagued our city: the official launch
of Oakland’s Operation Ceasefire—an evidence-based strategy designed to
significantly reduce gang and group related homicides and non-fatal shootings in
Oakland in the near term.
Oakland, CA — On October 11, 2012, at 8:30 AM, and 9:00 AM, two separate
armed robberies were reported at different locations (near the Franklin School).
Both victims described the suspect and an associated vehicle that was used as the
get away car.
