Oakland, CA – On Thursday, October 18th, the City of Oakland took an important
step to address the serious violence that has long plagued our city: the official launch
of Oakland’s Operation Ceasefire—an evidence-based strategy designed to
significantly reduce gang and group related homicides and non-fatal shootings in
Oakland in the near term.

armed robberies were reported at different locations (near the Franklin School).
Both victims described the suspect and an associated vehicle that was used as the
get away car.

Oakland, CA — Academy- Fifty-four Oakland Police Department Academy
Recruits Have Begun their Careers
On Wednesday, Oakland Police Chief Howard A. Jordan, City Administrator
Deanna Santana, and Mayor Jean Quan toured the Department’s police academy
facilities where the newest class of 54 Police Officer Trainees was well
underway through their first of 27 weeks of training.
