participate in the Annual St. Baldrick’s fundraiser at Children’s Hospital.

as they shave their heads in solidarity with kids fighting cancer.
Oakland, CA —Today, the 51 recruits comprising the Oakland Police
Department’s 167th Recruit Academy began their 27-week training. Police Chief
Howard A. Jordan, joined by his command staff, addressed the recruits, welcoming
them to the law enforcement family and emphasized how important the role and
responsibility a police officer has in the community.
Oakland, CA — Friday, March 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM, the 166th Oakland Police
Academy graduated at the Scottish Rite Center. This is the first Oakland Police
Department graduation in over four years.
On March 20, 2013, at 3:15 PM, Oakland Police responded to the 4100 block of
Foothill Boulevard on a report of a robbery in progress. The caller witnessing the
robbery provided suspects’ descriptions to the dispatcher. These were corroborated
by another witness at the scene. When officers arrived they were able to safely
arrest the two suspects, an adult male and female, in connection with the robbery.
On March 18, 2013, at 11:25 AM, Oakland Police Officers responded to the 4100
block of Lincoln Avenue on a report of a residential burglary in progress. The
caller provided suspect activity and descriptions to the dispatcher including a
description of the vehicle used as a getaway car.
Oakland, CA — On March 15, 2013, the Oakland Police Department participated in
a statewide Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation. OPD was one of over 100 law
enforcement agencies participating in the operation, conducted statewide for the
second time ever. The Decoy Shoulder Tap Operation program is intended to reduce
the availability of alcohol to minors.

Jordan was joined by California Attorney General Kamala Harris, U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag, Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley, Mayor Jean Quan, and City Administrator Deanna Santana to discuss an extensive 30-day Oakland Police Department (OPD) investigation of Oakland gangs and groups thought responsible for many recent shootings and homicides. The investigation culminated with pre-dawn warrant services this morning.
