Oakland, CA – On April 3, 2013, Oakland Police officers responded to a call
concerning an armed robbery of a person in the 1000 block of Clay Street. Officers
were provided descriptions of three suspects and the direction they fled. As the
officers were attempting to detain three similar subjects in the 1000 block of
Jefferson Street, one officer discharged a firearm in response to a perceived threat.
On March 25, 2013, at 9:45 PM, Oakland Police officers responded to the area of
Alcatraz and Telegraph Avenue on a report of an armed robbery. The victim and
witnesses were able to direct officers to an AC Transit bus that the suspects used as
their getaway vehicle.
On March 21, 2013, at 12:00 PM, Oakland Police received information regarding
an individual who was in violation of his parole agreement and illegally carrying a
firearm in the 7800 block of MacArthur Boulevard. Officers located and safely
arrested the adult male suspect and recovered a loaded firearm.

suspect in connection with an attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old girl. (Video

Oakland, CA —Today, the 51 recruits comprising the Oakland Police
Department’s 167th Recruit Academy began their 27-week training. Police Chief
Howard A. Jordan, joined by his command staff, addressed the recruits, welcoming
them to the law enforcement family and emphasized how important the role and
responsibility a police officer has in the community.

Academy graduated at the Scottish Rite Center. This is the first Oakland Police
Department graduation in over four years.
