Oakland, Ca-This weekend Oakland Animal Services (OAS), a unit of the Oakland
Police Department, will be participating in Maddie's Matchmaker Adopt-a-thon.
This is your opportunity to adopt that puppy, kitten, dog, or cat for free, to
qualified homes. For every successful adoption, OAS will earn a generous donation of $500 to
$2,000 from Maddie’s Foundation.
Oakland, CA — On May 29, 2013, just before 2:00 PM, an Oakland Police
Department officer-involved shooting occurred in the 2400 block of Ritchie Street.
Officers assigned to a specialized crime reduction team received information that
occupants of a particular vehicle may be armed with a firearm; officers observed
the vehicle in the area of 90th Avenue and Bancroft Avenue. Officers attempted an
enforcement stop; a pursuit ensued.
Oakland, CA — On May 26, 2013, at 11:46 AM, Oakland Police officers responded to the area of 8th Avenue and Beatie Street, where a citizen was holding a juvenile subject for an armed robbery that had occurred two days prior. On May 24, 2013, at 4:55 PM, the victim had been robbed at gunpoint by two male subjects, who took her cell phone and cash. The victim identified the juvenile suspect as the one who had been armed with the gun.
Oakland, CA — On May 24, 2013, at 12:52 PM, the Oakland Police Department Communications Division received a call from a concerned citizen reporting a suspicious vehicle with one occupant inside. Oakland Police officers responded to 13600 Campus Drive and discovered that the vehicle had been taken in a carjacking out of Hayward on May 22.
Oakland, Ca- On May 16, 2013, at 8:29 PM, Oakland Police officers responded
to the 4800 block of Melrose Avenue where a strong arm robbery and attempted
carjacking had just occurred. The victim reported that he had just been approached
by a male juvenile suspect, who demanded his car keys and assaulted him.
Oakland, CA — On May 10, 2013, at 3:42 PM, in the area of 14th Street and
Broadway, Oakland Police officers responded to a call of a person armed with a
gun. The witnesses who called 911 told police that they overheard the suspect
bragging to a group of people that he had a gun. The witnesses then saw the suspect
pull out a firearm.
Oakland, Ca. As motorists take to the roads this Memorial Day holiday, East Bay police are urging everyone to
buckle up. East Bay law enforcement officials will be lending their support to the 2013 national Click It or
Ticket seat belt law campaign and looking for motorists who are not belted.
“As we kick-off the busy summer driving season it’s important that everyone buckles up every time they go
out, both day and night – no excuses,” said Oakland Police Lieutenant Peter Lau.

the criminal prosecution involving four suspects in connection with the attempted
murder of CHP Officer S. Deise, which occurred on July 21, 2012.
