Mayor Jean Quan and Council Member Pat Kernighan will host a Town Hall meeting with residents of District 2 (Bella Vista, Cleveland Heights, China Hill, Crocker Highlands, East Lake, Grand Lake, Haddon Hill, Lakeshore, Rose Garden and San Antonio Hills and Trestle Glen) on Saturday, April 30, 10 am-12:30 pm at Regeneration Church, 238 E 15th Street.
The murder of Jesus "Chuy" Campos, a respected, valued, and loved member of the community is a true tragedy. Mr. Campos was well known for his generosity and will be missed by many. He was very dedicated to our community and attended the Fruitvale merchants meeting just two days ago with the express goal of making the area safer.
Oakland Mayor Jean Quan announced today the appointments of Andrew “Drew” Lisac as her Senior Policy Advisor for Economic Development and Hatzune Aguilar as Special Assistant to the Mayor, as the two final appointments to her Mayoral Staff of nine. She also named Lewis Cohen, formerly Senior Policy Advisor for Education, as Deputy Mayor for Policy & Program, and Sharon Cornu, formerly Senior Policy Advisor for Intergovernmental Relations, as Deputy Mayor for Community & Governmental Relations to coordinate management of the Mayor’s Office.
Working with neighborhood residents, youth and volunteers from Block by
Block Organizing Network (BBBON), the Town Hall is organized to provide local
residents with opportunities to focus on top priorities in the areas of public safety
(Spanish and English); Education; Economic Development; Housing and
Development; Infrastructure, Blight and Beautification; Health and Environment;
Transportation; Social Justice; LGBT Empowerment and Youth Empowerment. The
Mayor will also discuss the City’s budget challenges.

will host a Town Hall meeting with residents of District 1 (North Oakland) on
Saturday, April 2, 10 am-12:30 pm at the North Oakland Senior Center, 5714
Martin Luther King, Jr. Way. This is the third in a series of seven meetings designed
to more closely connect City services with neighborhood needs.
With the opening of the 140,000-square-foot Target store on the Oakland-Emeryville border, the retailer brings job opportunities and an additional shopping option for Oakland residents and much-needed revenue for the City of Oakland. To assist Target, the City of Oakland assembled a multi-agency team to work in partnership with the retailer’s construction and development team in order to open the store on budget and ahead of schedule.
In her ongoing effort to more closely connect City
services with neighborhood needs, Mayor Jean Quan will host a second Town Hall
meeting with residents of District 6 (East Oakland from Redwood Road to
Edwards/73rd Avenue). The Town Hall will be held Saturday, March 5, 11:30-1:30
at Havenscourt Middle School, 1390 66th Avenue.

On Saturday, February 26, Black History Month Finale: Join Mayor Jean Quan and Assemblymember Sandre Swanson for a march in downtown Oakland and tour the many sites where prominent African American leaders have left their mark.
