Oakland Paratransit for the Elderly & Disabled
Eligibility and Application Process
Residents of Oakland and Piedmont who cannot access public transportation may be eligible for Oakland Paratransit. You must be at least 18 years old with a mobility disability.
Call 510-238-3036 and request a registration form.
- If you are 18 – 69 years old with a mobility disability: You must be registered with East Bay Paratransit before submitting a registration form. East Bay Paratransit can be reached at (510) 287-5000. When applying with OPED, please read the cover letter instructions carefully.
- If you are 70 or older: Simply complete the first two pages of the registration form and then attach a copy of you California ID Card or California Driver’s License to the back of the form.
Each eligible program participant may purchase a quarterly amount of taxi scrip books at a discount. Participants arrange their own rides by calling one of the taxi companies under contract with the City.
With prior approval, participants may purchase additional taxi scrip books for a higher fee to be used for medical appointments. Program participants may purchase taxi scrip books by mail or in person by appointment.
For additional service, the primary Paratransit service is provided by the East Bay Paratransit Consortium. It is required that you apply for their service also. Call 510-287-5000.
