Oakland Unite -- Funded by Measure Y
Oakland Unite -- Funded by Measure Y, the Violence Prevention and Public Safety Act of 2004, creates a safe Oakland by dramatically reducing violence among youth and adults. Oakland Unite is a comprehensive and multifaceted effort weaving together social services, nonprofits, police, employment, schools, criminal justice, faith-based agencies and community members at the neighborhood level.
Oakland Unite addresses the complex and multiple risk factors associated with violence: poverty, unemployment, discrimination, substance abuse, educational failure, fragmented families and domestic abuse.

Messengers4Change is an Oakland Unite project that encourages Oakland residents to take a stand against violence.
Community residents trained to be Messengers4Change send a clear message that gun violence is not acceptable, and host many events in different parts of Oakland to reach out to Individuals that are perpetrators or victims of violence. Find out more about Messengers 4 Change services and events.
