Oakland Youth Commission
Established in 1996, the Youth Advisory Commission (YAC) serves as a voice for youth by advising the City Council on key policy issues affecting youth and meeting with civic leaders to advocate for youth needs. The YC tackles issues of importance to youth and is committed to increasing opportunities for youth participation in civic engagement and youth leadership and empowerment. A maximum of 25 youth between the ages of 13 and 21 are recommended by the City Council and Mayor and are appointed by the Mayor for two year terms.

| Who: | Everyone is welcome to attend the Youth Advisory Commission meetings. However, if you are interested in being an appointed member, you will have to submit an application.Please note: We will continue to accept applications after the application deadline until the commission is filled. |
