How do I report a public works type problem?
You can go online to SeeClickFix to file an online report and track non-emergency problems, such as graffiti, illegal dumping or potholes.
Oakland residents can submit a report with a photo using a mobile app or computer. Upon receipt of the service request, the resident receives a confirmation message. SeeClickFix offers increased transparency and accountability. Anyone can track submitted reports and set up location-based watch areas to see local activity.

How do I request sidewalk repair?
Maintenance and repair of sidewalks is the property owner's responsibility, except when damages are caused by an official City street tree.
Street Trees: To verify if you have an official City street tree, contact the Public Works Agency, Tree Services section at 510.615.5850.
Sidewalk repairs that involve less than 25 square feet do not require a City permit. The property owner should contact the City to schedule a sidewalk inspection prior to commencing work to identify limits of repair and after repair is completed. Sidewalk repairs that involve more than 25 square feet require an Engineering - Curb, Gutter, Sidewalk, Driveway Permit from the Building Services - Permit Counter, 250 Frank Ogawa Plaza, 2nd Floor, (510) 238-3443, before the work can commence. After permit is obtained, the property owner should call (510) 238-3651 to schedule an inspection prior to commencing work to identify limits of repair.
How do I appeal a parking ticket?
Citation must be contested within 21 calendar days from the date of issuance. If you wish to contest your citation, you can do it in the following ways:

Once the Parking Citation Assistance Center (PCAC) completes its investigation, you will be notified by mail. You will have 21 calendar days to pay your citation(s).
What is the new parking meter hours?
Monday through Saturday, 8:00am to 6:00pm.
How much does the parking meter costs in Oakland?
The current rate is $2.00 per hour. This is an increase of 50 cents per hour over the old rate, effective July 1, 2009.

What is a Police Beat?
The City of Oakland is divided into 57 beats of approximately 5000 people each. Each beat has a Neighborhood Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) staffed by a Neighborhood Services Coordinator (NSC) to help the neighborhood solve problems with the Police and other City departments. Many NCPCs include a Problem Solving Officer (PSO) trained in community policing.
