The Grand Avenue Merchants Association
The Grand Avenue Business Association represents merchants in the Grand Avenue corridor between MacArthur and the Piedmont border. Most of the stores on Grand are independently owned and owner-operated, so shoppers can be assured of quality service and excellent merchandise.
Today, Grand Avenue is a microcosm of Oakland, with a diverse mix of residents and an exciting array of stores and services that cater to nearly every interest.

Lake Merritt Business Association
The LMBA organizes merchants, business & professional people and other interested members of the nearby community to advance the economic welfare of businesses with & nearby the Lake Merritt Parkway District to improve the environmental conditions within it and serve the interests of its membership. Steve Ma is the president of LMBA. He is also actively involved in the 17X/18X/19X NCPC Groups, as well as the 17Y-NCPC, Lake Neighbors, and Cleveland Height Neighbors (15X).

Lakeshore Avenue Business Improvement District
The Lakeshore Avenue Business Improvement District was the first BID in the City of Oakland. In 1998 the property owners on Lakeshore and later Lake Park Avenues joined together to form this non-profit by voting to assess themselves additional fees. The BID uses the assessments to fund daily sidewalk and gutter cleaning, monthly steam cleaning, gardening in the tree wells and some larger plots, daily private security, promotions and events (four times a year), and staffing/advocacy for the merchants and property owners in conjunction with neighborhood organizations.
The Lakeshore Ave BID Advisory Board meets regularly. Merchants regularly attend the meetings. The Advisory Board invites community input and would be happy to consider a new community or merchant member. Chinatown Chamber of Commerce
The Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce was formed in 1985 by a group of local business people who wanted to promote business in the Asian community and provide a forum for the discussion of government policies. Today, the chamber has grown to over 400 members representing very diverse ethnic groups and a range of businesses and professions in both Oakland Chinatown and outside of the Oakland Chinatown area to make Chinatown a better place for members to conduct business.

Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce

Merchant Watch Groups
Merchant Watch
Merchants can participate with law enforcement to reduce crime in their business corridors through programs, such as Merchant Watch, Business Alert, or Business Watch. These programs are similar in their mission, “Merchants looking out for each other.”
Participating merchants get to know each other, their neighbors, receive training on how to recognize and report suspicious activity in their business district and implement crime prevention techniques, such as personal security, robbery reduction and dealing with aggressive panhandlers or scavengers.
Who can participate?
· Any business in the City of Oakland, small or large
· Non-commercial residences within a business corridor
· People interested in starting a business
