Budget Process
The City of Oakland’s budget is a large, complex document that may seem daunting. But if you live in, work in, or visit Oakland, you are affected by the budget every day.
Through the budget process, decisions are made about where your tax dollars will be spent. Roads; parks; police and fire services; programs for children, seniors and the disabled; libraries; and many, many more facilities and services are part of the budget.

Budget Advisory Commitee
The Budget Advisory Committee (BAC) advises the City Council on expenditures and revenues for all general fund municipal services and assists with the development of a five-year financial plan. The BAC must submit quarterly reports to the Finance & Management Committee. From time to time the Chair may request more frequent reports.
